Our world has change dramatically. We just experienced a very dark era, which changed us all. I realized that we can and will survive darkness.
Just as Bioluminescence is the biochemical emission of light by living organisms. Creating a new and even more beautiful world in the hardest of environments.
My works or art become alive under the UV light. revealing a magical happy universe of little things that can only be discovered by you. As a reminder that no matter how dark it gets, we will create light together.
For two decades I have been perfecting my art form. As time goes by my art; like good wine, has gotten better. Although my techniques have grown and my methods expanded, coffee will always be my medium of choice. What I strive to capture in my art are the movements of nature. Each painting carries a piece of the earth within it. Trapped within the movement of the strokes and bright hues lie pieces of my soul waiting to be seen.
My art is my life. My art is me (:)
Having come from a long line of artists, scholars and poets I've always been drawn towards the beauty of the land surrounding me. As a child I could feel the life flowing through the veins of my beautiful country, Costa Rica. The discovery of my gift stemmed from my inability to focus. As a young girl I would drink coffee as I did my homework hoping it would help me focus on my tasks. However, instead of sipping the coffee and doing my work as I had intended, I began to paint on my assignments. I immediately fell in love with the sheer beauty of the coffee staining the paper. So, I began to pursue my passion. A passion that would take me across time and oceans.
Looking back I see that much of the art I experienced in Costa Rica was born from necessity. The master craftsmen I had grown fond of used their art to facilitate other's lives. When I came to the United States and later parts of Europe I entered a whole new world of art. This art carried a different purpose, it was made purely for peoples enjoyment. As I strolled through various museums admiring the works of the "greats" I couldn't help but cry because of the beautiful serenity I felt just looking at them. I knew then I wanted to produce that kind of art.
